Lookalike Audiences: The Rise of Facebook Marketing

Facebook must have had quite a list of resolutions for 2013! Not two months into this new year and they have released Graph Search in beta testing and now Lookalike Audiences is also featured in limited beta.

Not long ago did Facebook introduce us to Custom Audiences, which allows marketing developers and businesses to advertise to users by their email address or even phone number.

This has helped numerous companies to engage with customers that they have already made a previous relationship with. Now, Facebook is adding the ability to segment these users and target similar audiences to their marketing capabilities.

Lookalike Audiences creates target audiences that are similar to Custom Audiences in Facebook data. Because this will narrow the focus of users, this advertising tool will make the costs per action lower than most traditional marketing options.

We will not know the full effect of this tool on digital marketing until it rolls out completely, but based on what Facebook has given us thus far, we can gauge that it will make a large impact!
