Our friends at Spotistic put their skills and Fourscan data scientists toward mapping similarities between local cafe's and Starbucks locations. By using data from Foursquare, the giant social network used for posting locations, they have been able to compare check-ins, tips and even positive reviews.

Based on their research, local cafe's beat Starbucks in every category. Our friends were also able to locate keywords used in regards to users feelings towards them. Users used words such as 'friendly' and 'service' toward Starbucks and words like 'delicious' and 'chocolate' towards local cafe's. This finding seems to point towards users finding satisfaction with service for Starbucks and product for local cafe's. On the other hand, to describe their dislike, users said 'line' and 'slow' for Starbucks and 'wifi' and 'service' for local cafe's.
