Uber Launched in Wilmington, NC Today, June 26

Wilmington inhabitants can now hail a ride from their phones using the Uber app and get picked up anywhere in town. Representatives from Uber met yesterday at a location in Wilmington to connect with drivers before the launch. Ride providers and Uber reps alike seemed excited for the debut. Uber boasts on its website that it is "Better, faster, and cheaper than a taxi." Downloading the Uber app and connecting a credit card allows users to conveniently hail a ride with "no whistling, no waving, and no cash needed." Users have the option to select from up to 5 different ride styles ranging from effecient to luxery, each with their own private driver. No ride sharing required, although passengers who choose to share a ride with a friend may have the option to split the fare using the app.
