Astonishing figures include: companies who use Twitter average 200% more leads than those who don’t, while 65% of B2B Companies have acquired a customer through Linkedin. (source: hubspot academy)

The important thing to remember is that different kinds of content need not be spread through every single social media site your company utilizes.

Choose the right networks to engage the right people with the right content. Post a variety of different content on different sites. Keep in mind that your buyer personas uphold a strong distinction between work and play.

Another important tip? Don’t always talk about yourself. Share interesting stories that relate to your industry or about topics that you know your buyer persona will also be interested in. This way, you can reach prospective customers before they may even realize they require your services.

Top Social Networks your company should utilize:

1. Facebook:

If your company doesn’t have a Facebook page, then you might as well not exists. With over 1 billion users, it is the number one place to be. Facebook is known as the “humanizer” of all networks. It is more personal and informative than most other sites. It is best to post more valuable content but less frequently. Host “like” competitions/giveaways to increase reach. Share your blog posts and link back to your website frequently. Also be sure to highlight any custom apps you’ve created.

2. Twitter:

Tweeting is a great way to gain valuable feedback from your customers. Twitter is great to reach a large amount of people at a faster rate. Since Tweet characters are limited, share short and simple content. Since Twitter functions as a live feed, it is the best site for news jacking. You can use breaking news and trending topics to bring traffic and attention to your company’s site.

3. Instagram:

By now, it is fairly obvious that consumers respond best to visually stimulating images. Use this to your advantage and post exciting photos on Instagram! If you’re in the banking industry and not in the oh-so colorful fashion industry, make it a point to develop creative ways to visually represent your company’s brand and overall mission. Showcase your employees and share “behind the scene” images to emphasize transparency and “humanize” your brand. Make sure you include a link to your website within your bio and engage within other instagram pages that you believe your ideal customers would enjoy. 4. LinkedIn:

This professional site can do more than help recruit for your company. Linkedin is perfect for businesses seeking to target other businesses. The site reaches a more professional, industry specific consumer. There’s a ton of useful, detailed information that doesn’t have to compete with cat photos (like in other social sites) for your prospective customer’s attention. This is where you don’t always talk about yourself.  Use Linkedin to share industry/business focused content. Due to how specific and useful the information is, post less frequently.

5. Google+:

Known as the Search Optimizer, Google Plus is great for local SEO and to improve click through rates. Local businesses can benefit greatly by increasing their SEO against massive brands. Having an active account will help allow your customers to find your information while using Google search. You’ll show up across google, give customers the right info and build lasting relationships by allowing them no nonsense ways to leave reviews. Post on Google Plus at least 3 time a day and make sure to respond to customer feedback as often as possible. Create “hangouts”, to showcase a new product/service or just start a conversation, in order to get ever closer to your customers.

With these tactics in mind, Happy Posting to you! And remember that Social Media is only as valuable as your engagement and content, so make it count for both you and your customer.
